Book Two is in progress. Some thoughts on what makes the second volume of a political trilogy the most difficult — and the most necessary.

The second volume of any trilogy carries a particular burden. It cannot have the energy of the beginning or the finality of the end. It must maintain tension, deepen character, and complicate the world — while also being a complete and satisfying story in its own right.
